Why do we need the collective?

Similar to the invisibility of women over 50 on-screen, that invisibility can also be seen in entrepreneurship. Black and Brown women aged 55+ face many barriers in entrepreneurship including: lack of access to funding, gender and age bias, fear of failure, and lack of networks and mentors. We have a mission of empowering Black women aged 55+ to become successful entrepreneurs.

The Founder

Ivory Brown, affectionately called “Boonie” by friends and family is a wife, mom, grandmother, daughter, and friend to the most amazing people.  The Platinum Plus Collective is a result of working with Black women 55+ who have had a successful career in the private and public sector or have been a full time homemaker, raising a family,  and now have expressed a desire to start or grow a business to realize lifelong ambitions and passions.   However, many of them lack the resources and support needed to fulfill their entrepreneurial aspirations. I believe women in this age group possess valuable qualities like the precious metal platinum:  resiliency, flexibility, versatility, adaptability, and the ability to handle stress effectively; therefore The Platinum Plus Collective was created!  Three words guide me as we grow – Passion, Purpose, and People! Join us in this journey!
